JEM DOBBS in ‘New Briggate Blues’

Mon 23 July at The Studio @ The Carriageworks

New Briggate Blues covers the rich history of Studio 20. Studio 20 was Leeds’ main 1950s jazz club on New Briggate run by tuba player Bob Barclay. Over the years it featured musicians such as bluesman Jimmy Rushing, traditional jazz legend Ken Colyer, vocalist and raconteur George Melly, and sax legends Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott.

Jem is a Jazz trumpeter and singer, performing with big swing band Les Vegas and the International Playboys of Rhythm, the legendary Des the Miner and Leed’s ‘merchants of musical mayhem’ Bassa Bassa. He will be playing with them at Womad this year.
